As usual, any celebration cannot be without food. However, due to the fact that there is Jaylen around, we cannot have luxury of doing what we want and where we want. Thus, we drop by Crystal Jade at Causeway Point. Bit disappointed with the food actually. Let me show you ... ...
1st Dish - Siew Mai
We ordered this and Har Kau (Prawn Dumpling) but Har Kau sold out. Like what i said before, The top 3 food to distinguish a quality of a Dim Sum Restaurant, 1. Siew Mai, 2. Har Kau, 3. Char Siew Bao. This Siew Mai, is too small in size, bland and not appetising.
2nd Dish - Deep Fried Prawn bean curd skin roll. This is oily, esp when your teeth sink into the crust. Oil oozes out of the thing. i only had a piece as i was watching my diet. Also not appetising.
3rd Dish (Most Disappointed Dish) - Deluxe Conpoy Dumpling
This was the worst dumpling i have ever eaten. More then 75% of the dumpling was the glutinous rice (Look at the photos) and the ingredients? Pathetic! 1 piece of fatty pork, 1 salted egg yolk, 1 small piece of chinese ham and LOTs of glutinous rice! This is what the promotion brochure describe it as... ...
"Premium dumpling includes scallop together with "Jin Hua" ham which turns a simple dumpling to a delicacy, enticing to the sight and palate."
I couldn't believe my eyes when i see the dumpling and read the description! And the dumpling, cost $10.50 ++ !
Even Mrs Cheong, who is picky on food, also claimed this sucks! OMG!
4th Dish - Egg Hor Fun with prawns
Mrs Cheong ordered this on my recommendation and she found this quite ok. To me, it looks good on the eye but i didn't try it so no comments.
5th Dish - Wan Ton Noodles soup
Well, for me, as im on diet, this is one of the healthier choice. the tried and trusted wan ton noodles and it didn't disappoint me. Noodle was crunchy, soup was rich and prawn wan ton was good. To be honest, this wan ton noodles soup is quite good.
Conclusion
The food needs certain areas of improvement, esp for the dumpling. $10.50++ for a dumpling which has nothing much is really too much.
